I’ve been playing golf for years, and I have been a member of 3 different clubs. I joined the Seed 2 years ago and I have never had this much fun and competed so hard in all my years of playing this game. This thing is awesome!Clarence Derr – Charlotte, NC
In 2001, on the heels of the Tiger-craze Darrell and Rusty started playing golf with one goal in mind … to whip each other. They started recording the results of their matches against each other on their Motorola Nextel cell phones. Soon after, they realized there were golf nuts who loved competing against each other as much as they did!
Namely Wayne Tolson, Jeff Baskin, Germano Kimbro, Elmer Henderson, and Anthony Calloway. The word spread around the New Haven, CT area that these “hackers” were competing against each other every weekend, and by 2004 the club had grown to 16 members. We then decided to make it official. We set out to develop a golf club that encompassed everything we loved about the game of golf and the art of competing with the organization of a Fortune 500 company.
We had an idea that we believed would improve the traditional “golf model”. Normally when you want to play a round of golf you call a golf course, book a tee time (or just show up) and play with whomever the starter pairs you with. That didn’t work well for most of us. Our goal was to build a club that made it easy to contact your friends, let them know you wanna tee it up, show up at the course and get it on!
Oh, and one more thing … we wanted to travel to different courses every weekend so nobody had an advantage over the other and we wanted the scores to be recorded, and calculated each time we played so we could determine who was the best player for the season, a.k.a. the NUMBER 1 SEED!
We’ve added countless improvements to the club since its inception including a state-of-the-art website, text broadcast application, weekly travel schedule, annual trips, intra/inter-club matches, annual tournament, and much more!
The club has grown to nearly 100 players in Connecticut, New York, and North Carolina. We also have travel members in Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington DC.
